POMPEII - THE LOST CITY

Pompeii was a Roman town. In the year 79, the volcano Vesuvius erupted and covered Pompeii in rocks and ash.

Two thousand people died, and rocks and ash covered Pompeii for hundreds of years.
In 1748 an Spanish engineer, Roque Joaquin, discovered the ruins of Pompeii.
Archeologists were surprised to find that–underneath a thick layer of dust and debris–Pompeii was mostly intact.
